Paperwork's got nothing on me ...

Yep, that's right! All of my paperwork is done and sent in. It took me a while to work everything in around school and school work, but I got everything done. It's in the hands of JET, the FBI, and the IRS now. Let the waiting begin! In the meantime, I'm going to blather on about various things!

I have my International Driver's License (as shown above)! Now I can drive in Japan, or at least on 01 August 2007 I will be able to drive in Japan. And speaking of driving, I have been randomly looking at scooters, and wow, there are a lot of different choices out there! I'm sure I won't have too much of a problem, and price-wise it is looking pretty optimistic (running around $1,500 - $2,000 new).

On the downside, reading the JET's Yahoo! Group and JetSet, it is becoming painfully obvious that there are a lot of things I need to look into. For instance, banking, paying off loans, internet service, taxes ... and the list goes on. I guess that there is no point to worry about such things until later, but I keep reading things ... I just need to stop reading.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll work out somehow (i.e. as long as I get my facts straight and figure out the best way to deal with everything). I'm going back to waiting ...

From the top ...

Today, 02 April 2007, I got my acceptance letter for the JET Programme! My two friends Kim and Marnie also were accepted, so it's all around happy here!

I have set up this journal so that I can post pictures and share stories with my family and friends about my adventures in Japan. You can also post comments to my entries (just be sure to leave your name so I know who you are). So, I send out a warm welcome to everyone reading this, and I hope you enjoy this and maybe even learn something!

You can find Kim's blog here: http://www.cailement.blogspot.com/

Okay, now that all of that business is set aside, I am really really excited! It has been a long-time dream of mine to go and live in Japan, but now I am actually going to live it out. I'm almost ready to leave tomorrow! At the same time, I'm feeling a little stressed trying to get all of the paperwork done in time. There are also several issues that I need to take care of. But ... one step at a time.

To Do List:
» Send in Jet Reply Form
» Get a Physical & Chest X-ray
» Get fingerprints
» Get passport-like photos
» Send in FBI Criminal History Report Request
» Send in IRS 8802 Form
» Get International Driver's License

Once I get the things on my list done and sent in, I will just have to sit on my hands and be patient. We don't find out our post until sometime in May -- I hope it is early May.

Until then!
