Doing a little searching, I found a few helpful websites! Apparently, there is a website for Niigata JETs. I had found it before, but the address was gone, so I assumed that the website had been discontinued, but I found it!
Niigata JET
They even have detailed information for Murakami! So, I'll be checking that out more, and I think I will contact some of the people who are there once I figure out where their e-mail addresses are.
I also found this neat little page from doing a Blogger search, where I found this one JET's blog ...
Niigata International Association/About Niigata
I also looked into the weather in Niigata on the weather.com website. It doesn't look too bad - in my opinion. I like snow, and while I'm a little terrified that Niigata is known for its snow (its nickname is Yuki-guni or in English, Snow Country), I still think that I would like living in a place with lots of snow.
Niigata weather
The weather in the summer doesn't look that bad either. I'll just have to ask people who live there to know for sure.
Oh well, I'm still waiting for information from my contracting agency, but I'll let you know when I know more!

Placement!
I come bearing happy news! I found out my placement today from JET. I will be going to:
Murakami, Niigata, Japan ( 38°14′N, 139°29′E)
Click the coordinates above to view the satellite image of my city! If you would like to know a little more about the city I will be living and working in, then please check out the following sites:
Wikipedia Entry: Murakami, Niigata
Enjoy Niigata: Murakami, Niigata
Murakami Official Website: Yokoso!
I'm afraid that there isn't too much information, but that should give you a few ideas.
In other news, both Kim and Marnie have their placements as well! Kim will be going to Okinawa, Miyakojima (24.8° N 125.3° E), and Marnie is heading to Wakayama, Tonabe ( 33°43′41″N, 135°22′40″E)! They are both very excited about their placements, and although we are pretty far apart from each other, we are already planning visits to each other's cities!
Also, I got my IRS 6166 confirmation form in the mail! So, now I have one less worry. I'm still waiting on the background check from the FBI.
JET will be hosting their annul Q & A Session Saturday, June 30th, 2007. I've already sent in my RSVP, and boy do I have some questions for them!
Now I just have to wait for my contracting agency in Niigata to contact me. They will send my my contract, information on the area, and my address. I should also be contacted by my predecessor soon, that way I can pester them with LOTS of questions! I will update again once I find out anymore information from my contracting agency!
